The international departure lounge of the Providenciales Airport now boasts a kids friendly area, the first of it’s kind in the islands. The Turks & Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) teamed up with Kalokids to bring an “Ocean Life” themed play area to the upper deck of the International Departure Lounge.
The play area is a perfect place for parents to allow their children to run around and play while awaiting their flight.
The modular soft seating play pieces can be grouped in a number of ways, and was ergonomically designed for kids six years and under. The marine themed play area has on display a number of marine animals including turtles, fish, seahorse, octopus and starfish, all of which inhabit the waters around the Turks & Caicos Islands.
“I love this new play area, it is a great additional to the airport to keep my energetic kids busy while I catch up on my reading,” said a New York bound Passenger.
As passenger traffic increases, the Airports Authority continuously seeks ways to add value for the traveling public and reduce the stress that is inherent with air travel, commented the Terminal and Marketing Manager, Lavern Reynolds.
“We will continue to push the envelope and try to exceed the expectations of our passengers by offering more than we have been able to do in the past. We look forward to adding to this play area and to the terminal as a whole for the benefit of all who pass through our doors,” added Lavern.
The second floor of the Departure Lounge was introduced approximately one year ago as a part of the Terminal Expansion project. At that time, the Airports Authority sought extra accommodation to make travel through the islands gateway more comfortable for passengers.
